Some Tips and Helpful Advice To Revive Your Hair

As we know, Summer is one of the best times of the year. Especially during this quarantine I’m sure we all have had more time in the sun. Chlorine, salt water and rays from the sun can damage your hair terribly.

Chlorine/Pool Water

The chemicals in chlorine leave hair feeling crispy and weak and we all know the classic turning blonde hair green horrors. You should do a hair treatment or apply a leave in conditioner in your hair before you do your summer dip. Then later when you wash your hair use a clarifying shampoo to give it a good clean. Don’t worry, we have what you need in the salon!

Salt Water

Salt water enhances frizz, dries your hair out and can potentially damage the cuticle. Like chlorine/pool water preparation, you should apply a leave in conditioner before and when you rinse your hair let your hair air dry.

Sun

The UV rays dull hair color, dries out strands and can potentially cause damage that leads to scalp burn. You should apply a sun protecting product before going outside and do a scalp treatment weekly.

Air Conditioning

Im sure you probably have never thought about it but, AC leaves your hair super dry. Make sure you are using a deep conditioner and/or leave in treatments regularly.

Hard Water

Hard water, aka the water that comes from the shower head is jammed packed of minerals and the buildup of them makes your hair color fade fast, dries your hair up and can make it frizzy. You can use a color protecting leave in before you shower and I suggest investing in a filter for your shower head.

Thermal Damage

Heat damage is one of the main issues with hair care. It can be SUPER harmful using heat tools in the summer due to all of the other factors. Let your hair down! Embrace air-dried hairstyles like braids, space buns, topknots or whatever fits you.

Hairline Breakage

Its our reaction when it gets hot to toss our hair up in a high pony or bun it up. It puts strain on the hair and can cause breakage of the hairline. You should be using shampoo and conditioner that is designed to strengthen the hair and I recommend adding in some low ponies, low buns or styles that don’t require elastic bands.

If you are in need of any products to regain the health of your hair come by the salon and let us help you out. Deep conditioning treatments is a service that we offer at the salon. Also, let me tell you its phenomenal. Schedule your appointment to doctor your hair from the elements this season. See you guys soon!
